Pokémon FireRed
I'm a little bit of a slowpoke on this one, but I've been in the process of playing through Pokémon FireRed on the Nintendo Switch 2.
This is one of my all-time favorite entries in the Pokémon video game series. It's narrowly in second place behind HeartGold & SoulSilver on the Nintendo DS. (Nintendo, give us a second screen again, you cowards!)
I've played through this game one too many times, but if you're a Pokémon fan, you get it... just one more time, I swear!
Currently, I'm working on catching everything I can in the Safari Zone, with the Saffron City Gym as my next badge to acquire. I've been taking my sweet time trying to, you know, catch 'em all.
The task feels a little more novel and manageable than in any of the modern entries, where completing the Pokédex is a much larger undertaking. So far, I've logged about 26 hours of playtime, with a large chunk of that spent gambling on the slot machines to get enough coins for a Porygon.
And that's not even counting the couple of additional hours I spent soft resetting in the hopes of finding a shiny Porygon, which I unfortunately did not luck into. 😭
Here's a screenshot of my current party! Rhyhorn is just temporarily filling the sixth slot for now. I've not decided who my sixth Pokémon will be yet, but I have a few ideas.
